When you record with OBS
OBS writes one-minute MKV files to a folder. WeaverClip uploads them as they appear.
During setup, the helper creates a separate OBS profile named WeaverClip. Setup and repair both save a backup; a repair also writes exact rollback commands. Recording with that profile is ordinary OBS recording — the difference is that the helper watches its output folder.

Record with OBS using the WeaverClip profile, or import an existing MKV, MP4, MOV, or M4V recording you already made. The rest of the workflow is the same.

The helper uploads and verifies
The WeaverClip helper is a small program on your computer. It uploads each video to your library and checks that the cloud copy matches before anything is removed.

Uploading starts right away
For OBS, each finished segment uploads while the next one records. For an imported video, upload starts as soon as you choose the file. You do not wait for the recording to end.
Video and audio
Each MKV file contains the picture and the audio routed to the recording.
OBS records the picture plus the microphone and computer-audio sources enabled and routed to the recording. Play a short test recording before a full show to confirm both audio sources are present in the saved MKV file.

Upload and local cleanup
Every segment uploads during the show. A local file is deleted only after its cloud copy is verified.
When upload keeps pace, only recent unverified files remain on your computer. If the connection falls behind, local disk use grows until those files upload and verify. WeaverClip never clears an unverified local file.

The helper records the segment's exact byte count and its MD5 checksum — a fingerprint of the file's contents.

WeaverClip checks the stored object's byte count and checksum against the helper's numbers. Both must match exactly.

Only after verification does the helper delete the local segment. On a mismatch or a network failure, the file stays on your disk and the upload retries.
After recording stops
WeaverClip starts finding clips when the recording finishes.
About twenty seconds after the last segment, the helper marks the recording finished. If the recording fits within your available transcript hours, WeaverClip transcribes it once and ranks up to 20 moments automatically. Open a suggestion to watch that part of the recording. Nothing is rendered until you choose it. If the full recording is longer than your remaining transcript time, you can choose a smaller part to search.

What counts toward transcript hours
Transcript hours count each successfully processed source minute once.
Automatic clip finding processes the recording once. Reviewing suggestions, changing a clip range, adding captions, and searching already processed footage do not use those minutes again. Free includes 1 source hour total. Paid allowances renew monthly.

How clips are selected
WeaverClip finds the moments. You choose what gets rendered.
WeaverClip looks for complete, self-contained thoughts that are strong enough to post and meaningfully different from the rest. That includes useful nuggets, bold or unexpected takes, debate-worthy opinions, stories, reactions, culturally specific humor, slang, and lived experience. It does not treat one culture or dialect as the default. You get up to 20 suggestions for each hour searched, with a maximum of 200 for one recording. Weak or repetitive footage can produce fewer suggestions. Each suggestion includes a plain reason. The ranking does not predict views or guarantee that a clip will go viral.
Review before rendering
Preview the exact suggested start and stop. Use it, adjust the range, or skip to the next ranked alternative. Nothing renders automatically.
Clips never cut the source
A clip saves its start time, end time, output shape, crop-or-fit choice, and captions. Rendering creates a new MP4 and never modifies the source recording.
Captions come from the transcript
Each render includes word-timed captions from the transcript. You can also show an editable opening hook for 2, 2.5, or 3.5 seconds; it then disappears while captions continue.
Output formats
One landscape recording can export as vertical, landscape, or square clips.
For a vertical clip from a widescreen recording, you choose the tradeoff per clip. Crop to fill uses the whole vertical screen but removes the left and right sides of the picture. Fit with blurred background keeps the complete widescreen picture, shown smaller, over a blurred copy that fills the space above and below.
A separate vertical OBS recording is only worth it when the vertical version needs a genuinely different camera, game, or screen arrangement. WeaverClip's OBS setup configures one 1080p landscape canvas; it does not configure a second vertical canvas for you. WeaverClip currently accepts one OBS recording per session, so separate 16:9 and 9:16 files are stored as separate recordings and are not paired as one show.

Verified before any cleanup
A local segment is deleted only after the cloud copy's byte count and MD5 checksum match. Anything unverified stays on your disk and retries.
Private by default
Recordings live in private cloud storage. Playback, finished-clip downloads, and editing tools use short-lived signed links, not public URLs.
A stated deletion date
Source recordings are deleted 30 days (Free) or 180 days (paid) after the recording ends. The date is shown on each recording, and a daily job enforces it. Transcripts and finished clips remain while your account is current.
Delete on your terms
You can permanently delete a recording and its related segments, transcript, and clips at any time before its automatic deletion date. Finished clips can be downloaded separately.

Storage is how much footage you can keep. Transcript hours are how much of it can get transcripts, captions, and clip suggestions. Renders are how many finished clips you can create. - What counts toward transcript hours
- WeaverClip transcribes complete recording segments, each no longer than one minute. A segment counts after transcription finishes successfully, and it counts only once. A paired 16:9 and 9:16 recording shares one transcript, so the same show minute does not count twice. Uploads, storage, playback, failed transcription, and searching processed footage again do not count.

- Storage above the included amount is $0.04 per GB per month. Renders above the included amount are $0.05 each. Uploads pause at twice the paid plan's included storage; files that do not fit remain on the creator's computer.
- Limits on the Free plan
- Free never creates overage charges. Uploading pauses at 5 GB. Free includes 1 hour of source footage for transcripts and clip suggestions, 6 captioned renders, and 1 scene-layout generation — all as one-time totals that do not renew monthly. OBS can keep recording, and the WeaverClip helper keeps every unuploaded file on the computer until the creator deletes stored footage or upgrades.
Billing is monthly and you can cancel any time; cancellation stops the next renewal, and usage already incurred remains due. If a payment fails, you get 14 days of grace. New renders pause, but recording, source playback, deletion, and finished-clip downloads remain available. The account then becomes read-only for 30 days: new recordings and renders are blocked, while existing recordings can still be played or deleted and finished clips can still be downloaded. Do I have to use OBS?
No, but the paths solve different problems. If you already have an MKV, MP4, MOV, or M4V recording, import it in your browser and WeaverClip handles the same transcript, suggestion, caption, and render workflow. Import does not free disk while you record — that video is already on your computer. To record with automatic upload and local cleanup, use OBS or the built-in Record without OBS button in the WeaverClip Mac app, which captures the screen and microphone in short segments and uploads them the same way.
Does WeaverClip change my OBS settings?
The helper creates or repairs only the separate OBS profile and scene collection named WeaverClip. Setup and repair both save a backup; a repair also writes exact rollback commands. Your other OBS profiles are not edited. Switch profiles in OBS to return to your usual setup.
Do I have to record vertically to make Shorts?
No. A landscape recording can become a 9:16 clip by cropping to fill the screen or by fitting the whole picture over a blurred background. If you also record an Aitum vertical canvas, the Mac helper automatically pairs its same-named file with the landscape show. Both files count toward storage, the shared show timeline counts once for transcripts and clip suggestions, and each finished export counts as one render.
What happens if my internet drops during a show?
OBS keeps recording to your disk. Segments that cannot upload wait locally, and the helper retries them with increasing delays. Nothing is deleted until its cloud copy passes verification, so a bad connection costs you upload time, not footage.
Does uploading a recording use my transcript hours?
No. Uploading and storing footage uses storage space only. After recording stops, clip finding uses transcript hours for each new source minute that finishes transcription. Captions and future searches of the same footage reuse that transcript without counting those minutes again.
Does my video travel through the MCP connection?
No. MCP carries session metadata, transcripts, timecodes, markers, and clip decisions as text. Video bytes move directly between the helper, your private storage, and the render worker.
What happens if a payment fails?
You get a 14-day grace period. During that time, you can start recordings, play or delete stored recordings, and download finished clips, but new renders pause. After that, the account is read-only for 30 more days: new recordings and renders are blocked, while existing recordings can still be played or deleted and finished clips can still be downloaded. Content is permanently deleted after that window unless billing is restored first.
Do I have to remember deletion dates?
No. Each recording shows its own deletion date, and WeaverClip deletes source recordings automatically: 30 days after the recording ends on Free and 180 days after it ends on paid plans. Delete sooner whenever you want.
