The nuance no pricing table shows: why bytes beat hours
Every competitor sells hours. Hours lie when your bitrate changes. A 2-hour 1080p60 Valorant VOD at 12 Mbps is 10.8 GB. The “100 GB vault” you bought holds nine of those, not fifty. The same vault at 6 Mbps sermons holds twenty-seven 2-hour services. If we only said “35 hours” you'd buy the wrong plan and blame us at 2am when OBS says “upload paused.” So we state both: the vault in GB (the truth) and the hour guide at 6 Mbps (the intuition), plus the table above so you can translate your actual OBS settings in seconds.
Sharp nuance: Your hard limit is 2× vault. That’s not “overage trap” — it’s a safety rail. At 75 GB vault, you can burst to 150 GB while we bill $0.04/GB-month for the 75 GB over. The 76th GB at $0.04 is $0.04 for the month, not a surprise $15. The pause at 150 GB simply says “your local disk is safer than our bill.” Files stay on your Mac, helper retries with backoff, and you choose: delete a 2-hour VOD (~5.4 GB at 6 Mbps) or upgrade to Pro and keep it. No deletion to make quota.
Another nuance: The vault counts finished clips too. A 30-second captioned vertical is ~35 MB. 100 of them is 3.5 GB — about an hour of source at 6 Mbps. Studio’s 2000 renders is ~70 GB if you max it, still well inside 1.5 TB. That’s why renders don’t need a separate vault.

What counts toward transcript hours?
Each source minute that finishes transcription counts once. Captions, re-watching, scrubbing the timeline, and failed minutes don't count. A paired 16:9 + 9:16 recording shares one transcript, so the same show minute counted twice on OpusClip counts once here. If you transcribe a 2-hour VOD, you spend 2.0h, not 4.0h. The full transcript stays and every future caption reuses it without re-billing.
What counts as storage?
Source masters + finished clips, exact bytes. A 2-hour 1080p30 VOD at 6 Mbps is ~5.4 GB. A dual-canvas recording at 6 Mbps + 6 Mbps is ~10.8 GB and both masters count, but they share one transcript. Your vault is the ceiling; your hard limit is 2× vault (Free 10→10, Creator 75→150 GB, Pro 150→300 GB, Studio 1500→3000 GB). Over that, uploads pause and files stay on your Mac — we never auto-delete to fit.

How long do you keep files?
Free 30 days, paid 180 days. Every recording shows its own deletion date, enforced daily at UTC. Delete sooner anytime from its session page — that enqueues both masters and all clips durably before any R2 delete. Transcripts and markers can remain while the account is current; finished clips are separate MP4s and keep until you delete them.
Why is 75 GB about 10 hours and not 75 hours?
Because WeaverClip keeps both versions of your show. A widescreen and a vertical recording of the same hour are two files, and storage counts both. Measured across real 1080p30 sessions that lands around 7 GB for each hour recorded, so 75 GB holds roughly 10 hours and we quote it on the conservative side. Record a single canvas, or a lower bitrate, and the same vault stretches considerably further. The vault is measured in bytes because bytes are what your recording actually produces; an hours figure changes meaning the moment your bitrate does.
Do renders cost you GPU?
No. Renders run on the creator's helper (your Mac), not WeaverClip GPUs. A 45-second 9:16 clip at 1080×1920 with word-timed captions is ~30–40 MB and reuses the transcript. What's a scene layout and why 30/60?
A layout is one plate or one matched 16:9 + 9:16 plate pair generated for your show (show name, topic, style, palette, zones). First regeneration of a layout is free (fix a typo, not billed). After that each generate/regenerate counts: Creator/Pro 30/mo, Studio 60/mo (doubled for same $119). Packs are 10 for $6 and 30 for $15 — $0.50/plate at the 30-pack vs $0.60 at 10-pack. Plates are a few MB in R2, not counted against your vault in a meaningful way (<$0.01 for 60 plates).
How can you include more footage than the alternatives at the same price?
Because of where the work happens. Tools that reframe every clip in the cloud pay for a rendering farm and have to price around it. WeaverClip renders on the Mac you already record with, so the plan is paying for storage and transcription rather than for someone else's servers.
